About

Pakkhús was originally built using timber from old houses around 1932. As the name suggests, the building was used as a storage warehouse, and you can still see old stamps on its walls from when fish was exported to Spain and other countries.
The building was largely reconstructed for Höfn’s 100-year anniversary and has since housed a variety of activities, including a craft house, a maritime museum, event halls, a café, and a local market shop. In 2012, the Pakkhús restaurant first opened its doors. Initially, it was only open during the summer months, but with the increase in tourism, the restaurant has been open year-round since 2016.
We specialize in local ingredients that we get from both land and sea. Höfn is known for langoustine and is often called the capital of langoustine in Iceland.
